The next project is to do with occupational therapy and therefore i decided to do some research into what that was as really i had no idea.

This is the description I found online. Sort of a helping hand to recover from physical or mental illness. In the brief it also highlights the target audience as over 65 year olds which means that this brief is aimed towards the older generation. The second target audience is adult extended family members, i.e Sons, Daughters, Siblings of the elderly residents. So this means that as well as the older crowd this campaign needs to relate and be adapted to the main care givers as well as the ones receiving the care.
There is a huge market for occupational therapy so it was quite useful to get a target audience sorted quickly. I also had a look at the county council website as well as the help yourself campaign as these two sites would be running alongside our campaign as well.
The concept and design brief for project 2 is too create to design, develop and deliver the campaign concept and then execute this campaign by creating appropriate public-facing material suitable for it.
This material includes website, video and leaflets.
In order to really understand what we were being asked we looked at some projects that were done last year to influence our design approach. We all decided that they were a bit text heavy for an older generation as there was a lot of text but it was so small which i felt was possibly not appropriate.
Also i realised that i was not sure if the internet and technology was a valid market to approach with an older target audience. However there was probably still some point in making a website as the younger audience would definitely find it accessible and easy to find information which could help them guide there loved ones in the right direction.
We were all given clear project roles and I was tasked with creating the leaflets as well as assisting with the filming of the prototype pieces.
As I was making the leaflets i decided to do some research into leaflets and more specifically occupational therapy leaflets.
These leaflets were found on the college of Occupational Therapists website at:
You can see from these that although there is 3 different sets of information they all keep the exact same layout however the composition changes from leaflet to leaflet. The design is quite simple and there is not loads of overwhelming information. The pictures are very engaging which helps to draw the reader in and explore the text as well. These leaflets also help to promote independence and self care which is a huge part of our campaign. In terms of the design all the relevant logos are there and the leaflets don’t feel crowded. The colours really work well with each other and this is definitely somethin to keep in mind when I am creating the prototype leaflets.
I found this on google and I think what really stands out for me here is the diagram showing where the different organs are and what can happen to them. This style of design is definitely something that I want to work on I think. As some of the items we will be using for our top tips will need a brief description and explanation so using a informative yet stylistic design like this could work really nicely.
This is NHS so they must have loads of leaflets and flyers packed with information so i decided to dig a little deeper and see if i could find any more similar leaflets on their website.
As you can see from this there are definitely loads of available flyers out there from the NHS and again they all keep the same design throughout. Therefore continuity and similarity is definitely a massive part of my design process as it could end up looking very disordered and messy if not.
After a few hours on inDesign, Photoshop and illustrator I managed to rustle up a prototype for the grabber, which is one of the top tips.
This is what I managed to make however it is only a prototype and still needs a lot of work and also testing feedback stages to make sure this is the best way to get the message across.
